Fact of the Day: Did you know that the highest snowfall total to occur in Illinois happened on February 28, 1900. On that date, 36 inches of snow fell in a 24-hour period. Drifting and blowing created snow drifts over 10 feet in height…scary!!! The record was matched in 1978 during what has been called the Blizzard of 1978. However, the snowfall event happened over a three day period (January 25 through January 27).
